How to Master Bluffing to Win Facebook Poker Chips in Texas Holdem on Facebook & Myspace
Posted July 30, 2010 – 7:40 pm in: Uncategorized
There are few skills in life that can also be described as an “art”, but bluffing in texas holdem poker is definately one of them. I say it’s an art because when it’s done wrong it’s ugly and hideous and sometimes even painful to watch, but when performed correctly by a master it’s a beautiful to watch, like looking at the Mona Lisa. A successful bluff involves many psychological, emotional, and social elements and only when all of these have been taken into account and calculated can the bluff be effective. Bluffing in Facebook texas holdem poker with Facebook poker chips, rather than real money, adds even more elements to the mix because players cannot see their opponents faces and wagers are virtual poker chips rather than money, but there are still ways to master the Facebook poker bluff. here are some points to keep in mind when you try to bluff in texas holdem poker games on Facebook and myspace.
The pure bluff:This is also known as a “stone cold bluff” and is used when a player’s hand has almost no chance of winning. The idea is that if you can reasonably judge that the other players have inferior hands and aren’t willing to risk their Facebook poker chips, a large bet will cause them to all fold their hands. This type of bet should generally be equal to the size of the pot, and should be done only when the expectation that everyone else will fold is greater than 50%. For example, after your flush or straight draw fails to materialize, you can make a bet equal to the amount of Facebook poker chips in the pot if you can make a reasonable assessment that the chances of everyone folding their cards is greater than half.
The semi-bluff:This type of bluff can be used not when your hand has been busted, but when there is still a chance that your hand might improve on the turn or river. The idea is that even if you make a strong bet that is called by your opponent and fails to scare them out of the pot, you still have a chance to draw the cards you need. This bluff is best used when there are suited cards or connectors like 5 – 8 – 7 on the table that might lead your opponent to believe that you already have the straight or flush. A strong bet in this situation could prompt everyone to fold their hand to you and allow you to win a good number of Facebook chips, however you should always be conscious of the fact that someone really might have flopped the straight or flush. In contrast to a pure bluff, a semi-bluff allows you to continue playing after a failed bluff because of the possibility that you may still improve your hand.
Betting before the flop and missing: Have you ever made a large preflop bet of Facebook poker chips with cards like Ace King, Ace Queen, King Queen etc.. only to watch cards like 3 9 5 fall on the flop? The flop obviously didn’t go your way, but your opponents don’t know that right? sometimes it pays to show false strength and bluff after a missed flop.
Bluffing when there aren’t a lot of players in the pot: This is a simple concept based on the fact that it’s easier to gauge the hands of a few players than many players. if there are only 1 or 2 other players left in the hand, you have a better chance of making an accurate assessment about their cards and deciding on the proper amount of chips for your bluff to be efective.
Optimal bluffing frequency in Facebook poker: if you bluff too infrequently the other players at the table will label you as a value better, meaning that you bet and raise only when you have a great hand or the maximum chance of winning. This can lead to an unprofitable trend where everyone knows that you will only bet with great cards and so they generally choose to fold when you do so, diminishing your ability to draw more Facebook poker chips into the pots. The opposite of this is bluffing too much to the point that everyone realizes what you are up to and calls and even reraises your bluffs in order to “keep you honest” and teach you a lesson. The optimal bluffing strategy in Facebook poker is somewhere in between and must be implemented with an element of randomness in order to throw off the other players’ ability to predict your hands.
Keep these points in mind in order to mold a successful bluffing strategy to maximize the number of Facebook poker chips you can win from each pot. if bluffing in texas holdem really is an art, then an bluffer must continually refine his strategy and tactics with practice and trials, much like an artists refines his paintings with each stroke of the brush.

I'm going to attend a friendly poker game with a new group of guys from church, about 5 of us. I think they all have played poker with real money before, but not with this group. the organizer mentioned that money should be brought to the game. I was kinda suprised, thinking that this would be just for fun. I've played poker before, but no money was involved, but i have played black jack before with money. but then again, it wouldn't be any fun without playing for money. so, how much $ should I bring?
Bring like a hundred bucks. Its not making you look rich but enough to have a good time.
you should bring 500000000
If theres 5 guys and its just for fun bring around $200 cuz i know itl be more intresting with more at stake.
some friendly poker games would have a buy in and then you just play with chips and the winner gets the pot that everyone payed into at beginng, atleast that's how it was for all the games i've played. whoever's running it should have guidelines set for all that before hand, since you wouldn't want anyone going broke on a big hand or games that are too short because nobody brought enough money.
Honestly, if it's just a friendly social gathering, I'd bring $100 for poker max. I doubt the buy-in will be that much, if there even is a buy-in.
In the friendly games I play, we usually gamble around with 20 bucks each and a lot of the times we end up just not bothering to cash anyone out so we leave with however much we came in with.
But, if it's a serious game, then go ahead and bring as much as you're comfortable with since big stacks are a definite advantage.
It depends on what kind of game you are playing in. Is it going to be a cash game or a tournament style game? Also what are the limits going to be, i.e a 2-4, 4-8 or higher game? I myself try to buy in for as much as i can in a no limit game, but in a limit game 30-50 times the blinds are a good start. Anytime you fall below 10 times the blinds you should start to panic. Most limit games have a cap on your buy-in anyways, so a 2-4 game the cap in most places is 100 bucks with a minimum 20 dollar buy-in, but it can be different from place to place. but since this is a friendly game buying in for 50-60 is good to get started although i would just go ahead and make a full buy-in right off the bat. If you guys are playing a tournament style game (sit n go's) then there is usually a set buy in and you are given a set amount of chips to play with, these chips would have no cash value and the prize pool would be broken down to the top 2-3 players at the table when one player has all the chips. first is usually paid out half of the prize pool, and 2nd gets 30-35%, and third gets the rest.
How much money should i bring to a friendly poker game?

Detroit — Dave Dombrowski’s perpetual poker game continues, his cards known only to himself.
Jim Leyland’s hand is at least on the table as the Tigers talk among themselves and to other clubs a week before the July 31 trade deadline.
“We could use some help, but if the help is only a tad better (than the existing roster), I wouldn’t give up young talent,” Leyland, the Tigers manager, said Friday before the game against the Blue Jays was rained out at Comerica Park.
“Would we like to add some thump in the infield, and in the bullpen?” Leyland asked. “Yeah. But I don’t want to add to the club if it makes you only a tad better and if it involves giving up a couple of young players.”
Leyland believes that only for a “difference-maker” would the Tigers consider investing young talent, which is a philosophy that obviously originates with Dombrowski, the Tigers president and general manager, with whom Leyland is talking daily.
“Like other teams, we’ve got guys (scouts) all over the country looking at players,” Leyland said.
“All you can ask for is a difference-maker. a power guy, I’d be willing to trade for. Some journeyman guy with experience? I wouldn’t do it.”
The “power guy” could be a pitcher, as well as a position player, in Leyland’s view. And if the power came in the person of a third baseman or shortstop, all the better.
“Realistically, will Scott Sizemore, Ramon Santiago and Danny Worth drive you to a world championship?” Leyland asked, speaking of three infielders who get their share of time at third base, shortstop, and second base. “Probably not — being realistic.”
The price is high
The Tigers would love to see one of the Blue Jays’ more important hitters, Jose Bautista, in a Tigers uniform as soon as possible. Bautista can play third base and the outfield, and his 26 home runs entering Friday led the big leagues.
But the Tigers are running into two realities as a potentially volatile week shapes up:
Teams with players for sale are asking for full retail. the markdowns might or might not come closer to next Saturday’s deadline. even at the 11th hour, the asking price for the kind of dynamic player or players Leyland ideally covets figures to be steep, and it almost certainly would dent the Tigers’ farm system.
Leyland defers to Dombrowski on those matters.
Happily so.
“I know this,” Leyland said. “Dave Dombrowski is as prepared as any GM you’ll ever work with, for, or against. He’s as thorough as anyone in the game.
“I’ve never caught him one time unprepared,” said Leyland, who often asks about a particular player, and listens as Dombrowski tells him the specific asking price a club has already forwarded to the Tigers, as well as full reports on other teams that are also in the hunt. “Never one time have I mentioned a player he didn’t know about in detail.
“There may be some (GMs) as prepared as he is. But nobody is more prepared than Dave.”
‘Fun time for a GM’
Leyland said his input in trades is minimal. Dombrowski may ask him about a player, but unless it’s someone Leyland has had experience seeing from the Tigers dugout — in other words, an American League player — he is careful not to endorse or to discourage. For that reason, he’s reluctant to talk deeply about anyone from the National League.
Leyland instead talks with managers, coaches and players who might know a pitcher, or a hitter, and gets their take on whether the player would mesh with Detroit’s needs.
The manager says he has no idea what his boss will do during the next week, apart from being thorough and considerate of the team’s position and long-term picture.
“It’s a fun time for a GM,” said Leyland, who also enjoys the July chatter. “I’m trying to win games. And he’s trying to see if he can come up with something that helps our team.”

With Fall Season ‘10 starting August 1st and ending November 30th, it is a great time to plan ahead at which venues you want to play in for the new season.
There is a venue to meet your specific needs. the APC has smoking venues, non-smoking venues, and some, a mixture of both. you have choices of locations in Atlanta, to Loganville, to Braselton, in other words, most areas around the Atlanta area – North and South.
Where To Play is a list of venues on the left lower side of the Leaderboard page. Take a look at the venues in your area!
We add new venues often and we always have a blog and a forum post to let you know the latest news. We also try to update you with the Latest APC News at the top of the Leaderboard page.
The calendar will give you the events a month at a glance, and in each venue entry it will give you a phone number and address of the location and a link to directions. the APC venues are listed on Google maps.
We have large venues with 50+ players where you can rack up points with just one win! Then we have the smaller venues of 20+ players where the atmosphere is more relaxed but if you win, the points earned are less than venues with the larger number of players. Some players feel it is easier to make the top 10 at the smaller venues and if they can only play once a week, they will choose a small venue. Point is, you have choices to meet your needs.
Most players work toward earning a seat in the Grand Championship, and here is a look at the qualifiers of the Grand Championship (GC) for Summer Season ‘10, and the top 10 at every qualified venue at the end of the season earns a seat for the GC.
We also have a Yearly Championship Tournament that combines the winners of three seasons, and the top Points Earner at each venue automatically qualifies for the Yearly Championship Tournament. Take a look at the last Yearly Championship Tournament qualifications. Some players think it is easier to earn points at the smaller venues but the competition is just as tough.
Take a look at the prizes for the Grand Championship!
To read about the latest happenings at every venue, take a look at the forum.
Thank you for playing with the APC, and good luck in choosing your venues for the new season! We hope you have fun, make new friends, play good poker, and take your game to a new level!

Some books are so good that they define their field. every book that comes after may agree, disagree, or clarify what a definitive book has to say on its subject, but there is one thing subsequent books can’t do: they can’t ignore it. If you’re a serious tournament poker player, you can’t ignore the Harrington series. This is THE classic text on Texas hold em poker tournament strategy, bar none.
Vol. 2 continues the greatness of Harrington’s series by moving away from the formulaic, conservative approach taken in Vol. 1. This is understandable, since you have to learn to walk before you can run. and by the time you finish Harrington Vol. 2, you’ll be ready for the speed trials! Words like “highly recommended” can be overused, so I’ll just say you’d be crazy to gamble any serious amount of money without buying and completely absorbing all three of Harrington’s books. you should also re-read them right before any major event to clarify your thinking. They’re THAT good!
I’d also recommend the Poker Tournament Formula and Poker Tips that Pay: Expert Strategy Guide for Winning No Limit Texas Hold em for readers that are looking beyond the Harrington series, for additional hand-based poker strategies and techniques. both books compliment Harrington’s approach to the game quite well.

This book, Harrington on Hold ‘em: Volume II: the Endgame shows you how to play in the later phases of a tournament, when the field has been cut down, the blinds and antes are growing, and the big prize money is within sight. Harrington shows you how to make moves, handle tricky inflection point plays, and maneuver when the tournament is down to its last few players and the end is in sight. HeÂ’s also included a whole chapter on heads-up play, whose strategies up to now have been a closely-guarded secret of the game’s top masters.
Dan Harrington won the gold bracelet and the World Champion title at the ,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold ‘em Championship at the 1995 World Series of Poker. and he was the only player to make it to the final table in 2003 (field of 839) and 2004 (field of 2,576) considered by cognoscenti to be the greatest accomplishment in WSOP history. Totally fun game!
I dont usually like games like this, but this is a totally fun game. It plays great… the AI is very good… very addictive.
Challenging and Fun!
After downloading and playing Governor of Poker, which I enjoy thoroughly, I thought this couldn’t compare to it. It more than compares. There are various types of games and 12 challenges where you cannot go on to challenge 2, for example, until you win challenge 1. It’s a blast, educational and addicting. love it!
good practice for a short handed game.
This is a good game but I wish it was 10 handed or tourny style.

The internet is currently full of online roulette scams and regular online roulette players will already have been alerted to this. The usual case is that there are too many wild claims made on the websites and the customer is just set up for a big let down.
Despite this though there is a selection of decent ones too. Firstly I will mention a program called money make machine. Basically this consists of a group of software programs that allows you to code in whatever system you wish.
This program is not going to make you rich overnight bear in mind, and you need some patience in order to make it work, but it does have some excellent programs. Also available is a private forum only used by members, but the down side to it is the price.
Another software program I am going to mention is one called super roulette; this is also an advantageous system worth trying. For good results, it is used at the non-zero roulette table at Bet Voyager casino.
Another really good roulette tool is one called roulette bot pro. You get a choice of how you want to use this software program, you can use it either on a semi or full autopilot mode, it depends on what you are doing.
These are all programs in software form; they are very useful but bear in mind that they will not make you heaps of money. If eBooks are more in your favour though, I recommend trying the roulette bandit system; this has been put into the format of an eBook.
This written system is really popular and works brilliantly once you get the hang of it. Again this is not going to net you the big bucks, but with online roulette it is very helpful indeed.
It therefore seems that there are a few options around with regards to decent roulette systems these days. Sadly though not many people actually locate these systems that I have described above, they are drowned out by the scam ones. People get scammed a couple of times then just give up before they get to a decent one.
You could always take a look at a Roulette Bandit Review if you want to learn more about the system. You could also look around for reviews of the other strategies as well.
